Welcome to The Old Station
Historical Restoration Project
The current restoration work on the Old Station on Oklahoma Highway 33 west of Perkins, Oklahoma, began in January 2022. The first phase of the project focused on the renovation of the Old Station's Guest Cottage. With phase one completed in April 2022, the Guest Cottage is now being used to host vacationers, traveling workers, and people just wanting to get away for a few days. Timed with the opening of the Cottage for short term lodging, the renovation work moved to phase two—work on the Old Station's Main House.
The Old Station was a Texaco Filling Station that operated from the early 1930s through 1959. It was a popular stopping place for travelers on Highway 33, and Emerson's Grocery Market at the station served the needs of many in the rural Perkins area. One might see the Old Station as a precursor to today's filling stations with convenience stores long before "convenience store" was even a thing.
Proceeds from the short term rentals of the Guest Cottage and Main House are helping fund the restoration of the Old Station. With continued success of the lodging provided at the Old Station, hopefully you will soon see the Old Station's store building also improving as we begin highlighting its historical significance. Check back with us again to stay up to date with the progress. And you're invited to drive by anytime and take a look at what's going on at the Old Station.
IMPORTANT: We are looking for more information on the Old Station's history. If you have pictures or other information you are willing to share to be included in the story of the Old Station, please send a message to us using our site's contact page.
The Old Station is located on Highway 33, approximately 3-1/4 mile west of Perkins, Oklahoma. Called by some "the Queen City of the Cimarron," Perkins was the home of Frank (Pistol Pete) Eaton—a genuine territorial cowboy, quick draw sharpshooter, and lawman who became the real-life mascot of Oklahoma State University.
